FAQs

Do you need experience TO COMPETE IN A PAGEANT?

No! There is absolutely no requirement for girls to have competed in pageants before to be able to enter IJM UK. Full information is provided and training dates will be available prior to the competition for those who would like to take advantage of this. Many girls have won the crown at their first competition.

What are the rules in relation to hair and make up?

International Junior Miss UK is a polished natural pageant. This means that contestants aged 4-9 years may only wear lipgloss during the interview competition and contestants aged 10-12 may wear light, natural make up during the interview competition. All junior divisions (ages 4-12) may wear light natural make up on stage. Contestants aged 13 and above may wear full make up at their own discretion during any portion of competition. IJM UK is not a glitz pageant therefore glitz routines, hair and make up are not permitted.

Is there a non compete clause?

We have a limited non compete clause for International Junior Miss UK queens. We ask that you discuss any pageants with us prior to competing and obtain written consent to ensure there are no conflicts. Although most glitz and charity pageants are permitted, we do not allow any pageants which will inhibit a UK Queen from competing at Internationals or completing her reign as an IJM UK titleholder.

Does competing in optional competitions affect the overall outcome?

The optional and additional competitions offered at IJM UK do not form part of the scoring for the overall titleholders. These competitions are offered as a fun way to broaden a contestant’s competition experience and allow girls to win additional awards and prizes. We would however encourage girls to enter Optional competitions as this will increase their stage time and help to get out any nerves which they might have.

Is there a talent COMPETITiON?

There is not currently a Talent competition offered at IJM UK or the international finals.
